The temperature in Atlanta, GA is generally warm, even humid. However, temperatures can occasionally dip below freezing. While this is the ideal climate for a number of fruit producing trees, those that require a more mild winter may be killed off during a hard freeze. Thanks to Georgia’s warm climate, there are a number of trees and fruits that grow throughout the year. However, in order to help your trees live their best lives, you may want to consult with an Atlanta tree care professional, particularly during the early stages of your tree’s life.

Common Atlanta Fruit Trees

Throughout the state of Georgia, you’ll find tons of beautiful, fragrant, and fruit bearing trees. Our state is home to apples, apricots, cherries, pears, persimmons, muscadines, kiwi, nectarines, pears, persimmons, plums, pomegranates, citrus, strawberries, cantaloupes, honeydew, and of course famous Georgia peaches. Many of these fruit trees are found on residential properties throughout Atlanta. When not properly tended, any tree or plant can begin to grow wild and may even die. But with Georgia Tree Company, you can be sure that your trees are in excellent care.

Climate and Fruit Trees

Georgia has the perfect climate to grow a number of different types of fruit trees. The warmth and seasonal changes make it a great location for fruit tree species both those native and not. While Atlanta’s climate is not ideal for fruit trees that are native to tropical climates, such as mangoes, bananas and citrus, most other types of fruit trees will thrive in Georgia’s warm climate and mild winters. Apple trees are a hardy tree that seem to fair well in most climate, even those with a cold winter or frosty season. In fact, apple trees grow best in climates with a cold in winter, as well as moderate summer temperatures, and medium to high humidity. So places like northern Georgia are a perfect place.  Pear Trees are similar to Peach Trees, these trees are hardy in Georgia. This variety is not well adapted to the South eastern climate. But other than that most varieties grow well in all areas of Georgia. There are established pear trees in Georgia that have been in existence for about 5 decades or older and still producing fruit each year. Although Bartlett is the most common pear variety, it is not well adapted to the Southeast.
